Economy Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Levan Davitashvili confirms that the ship entered Batumi port with cargo received from a sanctioned company. According to him, the Georgian customs authorities did not authorize the receipt of such cargo.
"Yes, I'm telling you, there has been a lot of speculation about this, and unfortunately, it happens in such a way that any issue that may involve sanctions is often misinterpreted today. In particular, the fact that a ship arrived in the port of Batumi today with cargo from a sanctioned company, it is a fact, we have studied the documents, so the customs authorities decide responsibly, and the facts are that in Georgia there have been circumvention or violation of sanctions have been observed. It will be the same in this case," Davitashvili said.
According to him, without the consent of customs, this cargo will not be able to enter Georgia and the customs space.
