Based on the appeal of Transparency International-Georgia lawyers, the Public Defender found discriminatory treatment in Gigi Gigiadze's case:

"Gigi Gigiadze is a high-ranking cadre diplomat with 24 years of experience. He most recently held the position of Ambassador of Georgia to the Kingdom of Denmark.

After publicly expressing his solidarity with Foreign Ministry employee Iveri Melashvili, one of the main protagonists of the October 7, 2020 "Cartographer Case ," in a status posted on his personal Facebook page, he was not extended his diplomatic service and was not given a new job for 13 months after being discharged, despite there being dozens of vacancies.

The Public Defender considered that the refusal to extend Gigi Gigiadze's diplomatic service period as well as not considering his candidacy to the available vacancies constituted discriminatory attitude towards him due to the expression of a different opinion.
