According to nongovernmental organizations, Alt-Info TV is funded by undocumented shareholders. The Communications Commission provides the best media coverage of violent groups.
The study was conducted by Squander Detector and Transparency International for Georgia.
According to the organizations, according to the Communications Commission, Alt-Info's main source of financial income is donations from the broadcaster's owners. Alt-Info did not generate any revenue in the following year. According to the Communications Commission, the company did not receive no money from donations or advertising in 2020.
The situation is different in 2021, when Alt-Info received GEL 571,052 in donations from the broadcast owner and GEL 6,964.41 in advertising revenue. In the first quarter of 2022, he was also the owner of the main company. Specifically, Alt-Info received GEL 223,800 as a donation from the owner, while the amount received from advertising is still minuscule at GEL 2,127, just like last year.
"In total for the first quarter of 2021 and the first quarter of 2022, the main source of income of Alt-Info is the owner of the TV company. He gave 794,852 GEL to the television company. The TV company received only 9,092 GEL from advertising. During the first quarter of 2020-2022, Tsiala Morgoshia and Shota Martynenko were the owners of the company, so they were the ones who financed Alt-Info.
In addition to Alt-Info, Tsiala Morgosha owns shares in 6 other companies. According to the Law on Accounting, Reporting and Auditing, a company, whose annual income doesn't exceed GEL 2 mln, is not obliged to publish its financial statements.
Interestingly, none of Tsiala Morgosia's companies publish financial statements, which means the companies don't bring much income to their owners. On the other hand, Tsiala Morgosia will not be able to raise this amount from real estate either, because there are no real estate sales from which she could raise money during 2019-2022.
During this period, on March 1, 2021, Tsiala Morgosia purchased a parcel of land, which she later sold on June 30 of that year, although she re-purchased said property on March 4, 2022. Consequently, due to the fact that the property was returned after the sale, we cannot consider the mentioned purchase as a source of income.
As for Shota Martynenko, in addition to Alt-Info, he has a stake in the Georgian Tourism Agency LLC. However, as in the case of Tsiala Morgoshia's companies, the company has no financial statement document, which means that the company's profit is small or nonexistent.
Shota Martynenko has only real estate in Borjomi, purchased in 2010. After that there will be no cases of purchase and sale of real estate.
All this raises doubts about the source of funding for Alt-Info, because with the current revenues it is hard to believe that Tsiala Morgoshia and Shota Martynenko's Alt-Info TV was funded with 794,852 GEL in 2021-2022," reads the statement.
