I am asked to personally provide daily information regarding Nika - A message from Brussels

Nika Gvaramia's wife and lawyer attended a meeting of the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee, where a critical resolution on Georgia was discussed. According to Sofo Liluashvili, the most frequently heard term at the meeting was deoligarchization, which the MPs then explained as de-ivanishvilization. In addition, according to Sofo Liluashvili, Western partners talk about the need to release political prisoners:

"They all agree that the release of political prisoners is very important. As they have mentioned in talks with me it is very important to release the symbol of freedom of speech in Georgia Nika Gvaramia," Liluashvili said.

She said she had personal meetings with MEP Miriam Lexmann and Ewa Kopacz.

"They both say unanimously that it is sad that the current government is going against the will of the people. They are unanimous in saying that the will of the people and the release of Nika Gvaramia from prison is important to change things for the good of the  country.

Ewa Kopacz spoke to me a lot and told me to tell Nika personally that they will keep him on their agenda until he is released and they will do everything possible to have Mikheil Saakashvili transferred to medical care and Nika will be released very soon.

They point out that what Nika has been going through all these years is very hard, but they also point out that in the end it will definitely have a positive outcome, because what Nika Gvaramia has done for his country cannot disappear and be lost without a trace. Nika must have that hope personally.  About their personal communication with Nika. They are also asking me personally to provide daily information about Nika so they can keep up with events and be aware of everything," said Sofo Liluashvili.
