According to Droa Party leader Elena Khoshtaria, during the ongoing war in Ukraine, Georgia came out on top in terms of oil imports from Russia.
As Khoshtaria noted at a briefing at the party office, Russian oil imports have increased by 70 percent compared to April, despite the fact that fuel prices in Georgia have not dropped.
According to the Droa leader, it is not Georgia, but the oligarchic rule of the Georgian Dream that must be sanctioned for all this.
"Today we will talk about one of the most immoral and difficult topics - the issue of importing oil and oil products from Russia. Oil is one of the main financiers of the Russian blood machine. Accordingly, one of the main objectives of Western sanctions is to reduce oil dependence on Russia. Under these conditions, Georgia was the third largest importer of oil products from Russia in 2021, and during the war, Russia was the first oil-importing country of Georgia. That is, we directly give money to the blood machine.
In addition, in May compared to April imports of Russian oil increased by 70%. Most importantly, fuel has not become cheaper in Georgia. Among them Gharibashvili's public instruction was to buy oil from Russia. In other words, one of the most difficult topics, namely, the financing of the Russian military machine, is a topic of open alliance and relations for the Georgian government. In this regard, I am deeply convinced that it is not Georgia that should be sanctioned, but the oligarchic rule of the Georgian Dream," said Elene Khoshtaria.
