"He told me that if I came back, i'd be sent to prison" - Georgian volunteer in Ukraine faces threats of imprisonment from the "Georgian Dream"

"The Georgian Dream threatens to imprison Georgians who go to help Ukraine. The government forbids fighters to travel to the friendly country, and if they do, they are imprisoned for 3 years upon their return.

This is the response Akaki Vardanashvili received from the Dream when he decided to fight to defend Ukraine in Putin's war. First the government and then the embassy demanded that he stay in the country and explicitly told the Georgian fighter that he should not interfere in the Russian-Ukrainian war because it was someone else's war.

Despite the threats, Akaki Vardiashvili did go to Ukraine, but he says if he returns home he will be arrested.

"He's am employee, I won't tell you his name and surname. He told me that if I returned, I would go to jail because I would be a part of an illegal formation. I went to the embassy, at the embassy they explained to me, I told them: "Do you know what is happening in Ukraine? They are at war, we have a common enemy and they are at war. They said that no, nobody is fighting us and that i had no right to join another countries conflict. I explained that it is a common enemy, I explained that their victory is our victory, but no, he just shook his head, and said it was not true," Akaki Vardanashvili said.
