Georgian Dream Chairman Irakli Kobakhidze responded to the allegation by the judge in the case of Nika Gvaramia, CEO of the Mtavari Channel, Lasha Chkhikvadze, that he was told by U.S. Embassy employee Kevin Burke that Kelly Degnan was interested in why he convicted Gvaramia and why he applied the sentence of Imprisonment as a measure.

"The information that this judge circulated is scandalous, it's practically an indictment of a particular diplomat, a particular embassy employee. It demands, of course, a clear response. Of course, when a judge making decisions on behalf of Georgia makes such an accusation against a diplomat, it needs a clear answer, that is, we need to find out what the case was really about.

Of course, no one should have the right, even an MP, a politician or a diplomat, to summon a judge and demand a report on a specific case. And especially if the case is that the visit was cancelled because of this case, it is a complete disaster, it is a violation of both the Vienna Convention and the Georgian Constitution, and of course this has to be investigated.
