The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia started an investigation on the incident on the territory of the US embassy under Article 2 of the Civil Code. The case in question is that of Vato Tsereteli, the founder of TV Pirveli and MP Anri Okhanashvili.
According to the report of the main investigative body the investigation has been launched on the facts of violence and threats according to Articles 126 and 151:
"On June 30 of the current year on the facts of violence and threats with the participation of Georgian MPs at an official reception held on the territory of the United States Embassy in Georgia, the Prosecutor General's Office In Georgia has launched an investigation on the grounds of crimes under Articles 126 and 151 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
Prior to the commencement of the investigation into the incident, the Office of the Public Prosecutor of Georgia was in active contact with the relevant representatives of the Embassy of the United States of America in order to resolve existing legal issues, including investigative and procedural actions necessary to examine the incident as it may have spread Georgian legislation on the territory belonging to the Embassy.
On 15 July this year through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia the Prosecutor's Office received a note of the United States Embassy in Georgia, in which they expressed their readiness to cooperate with the relevant departments of Georgia, using diplomatic channels in order to investigate the incident of 30th of June, taking into account the diplomatic immunity of the Embassy and embassy employees.
After receiving the aforementioned note, the Georgian Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation into the criminal case, on which all the necessary investigative and procedural steps will be actively carried out.
The investigation was launched on the basis of the application filed by Vakhtang Tsereteli, founder of TV-Company Pirveli LLC, pointing to the violence allegedly committed against him by Georgian MPs. MP Anri Okhanashvili also applied to the Prosecutor General's Office of Georgia, pointing to the alleged threats made by Vakhtang Tsereteli against him. Levan Mgaloblishvili, MP of the Georgian Parliament, also filed a statement in which he pointed out the fact of alleged violence against him.
Since all the facts mentioned in the statements of the aforementioned persons are connected with the fact of violence and threats, which took place at the official reception held on the territory of the US Embassy in Georgia on June 30, they will be studied.
Today at 18:00 Vakhtang Tsereteli, the founder of TV-Company Pirveli LLC was summoned to the Prosecutor General's Office of Georgia for questioning as a witness.
The public will be additionally informed about the results of the investigation. At the same time we express our readiness to fully cooperate with the United States Embassy in Georgia during the comprehensive investigation," reads the information of the Prosecutor General's Office.
