"With all responsibility I note that Georgia does not buy sanctioned oil" | Davitashvili

Georgian Minister of Economy Levan Davitashvili reacted to information from National Movement member Levan Khabeishvili that certain companies are importing Russian oil into Georgia.

Davitashvili says Georgia does not buy sanctioned oil and the country complies with sanctions with utmost responsibility.

"I want to point out strongly and responsibly that Georgia does not buy sanctioned oil. Georgia upholds the sanctions with maximum responsibility, there is not a single comment against Georgia in this regard. The oil purchased by these companies is not under sanctions, such oil is purchased by many European countries and many countries of the international community, and among them, in Georgia, decisions are made by private commercial companies taking into account the existing practice.

As for enforcement mechanisms, Georgia's customs structures have specific work with strategic partners in this regard as well. All state agencies were involved in the process together with the experts of the strategic partners, when the mechanism of sanctions application was determined, and once again the decisions were coordinated, agreed and taken with our strategic partners," said Levan Davitashvili.
