"Private meetings are held by friends... in this case the ambassador would have separated herself from the unfair attack on her friend Bidzina Ivanishvili - This is what Irakli Kobakhidze, chairman of the Georgian Dream, says in Borjomi and responds to today's statements by U.S. Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan.
It is a pity that this information was not confirmed from the very beginning. Of course, the ambassador could have easily answered. She could have said that the meeting took place after the start of the war. At such a time, naturally, no additional question marks would have occurred to the public, but unfortunately that did not happen. Then the letter of Mr. Bidzina Ivanishvili was released, after which the ambassador definitively confirmed the meeting. At that time when you can easily give an answer to a question and you refuse to, certain doubts and rumors naturally arise in the society, which is very bad.
I will tell you one thing, it certainly could not have been a personal meeting. Personal meetings are held between friends. And we have no such information that this could have been a friendly meeting. You can draw a very simple logical conclusion here. So, of course, there was every right to speak publicly about this meeting, to ask questions and give answers to those questions. If it was a matter of friendship here at least the ambassador would have dissociated herself from the unjust attack on her friend Bidzina Ivanishvili," says Kobakhidze.
Today, July 28, U.S. Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan spoke about the content of the meeting held with former Prime Minister and founder of the Georgian Dream Bidzina Ivanishvili.
