"Every year until 2026, the salaries of civil servants will increase by at least 10%" - Irakli Gharibashvili

"Every year until 2026, the salaries of civil servants will increase by at least 10% and the total increase will be about 50%," Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said before the government meeting.

We will probably submit an application to the Parliament in September and make adjustments to the budget. The budget will increase. The state has additional income due to such high economic growth. And, of course, we will have more money to spread over the months and more projects will be funded.

It also allows us, once again, I want to remind the public, that the wages of our public sector workers are increasing. I also want to remind the public that over the years, from about 2017 to 2020, public sector wages have not increased in almost any year, which I think is a big mistake.

The lag is so large that if you compare private sector wages and public sector wages, the lag is significant and needs to be corrected. So at my direction this January we have already started to make it up, in January it was increased by 10% for all government employees.

Now the Minister of Finance has presented our vision, the criteria have been defined, and the mentioned issue will be settled by decree, which means that the salaries of civil servants will increase by at least 10% annually until 2026, and the total increase will be about 50%," says Garibashvili.
