"Blaming others for you yourself not being able to realize your ambitions is not European behavior"| European Commission spokesman on the Dream

"Blaming others for your own failure to realize and fulfill your ambitions is not European behavior," European Commission spokesman Peter Stano said in an exclusive interview with the Mtavari Channel.

The priorities are formulated very clearly, there are 12 of them, and we in Brussels, as well as the EU member states, expect from all responsible persons a conscientious and responsible approach to this. European leaders have made it clear that they will decide on the next steps as soon as all the conditions have been met. They did not say that one or two conditions must be met, they said that all conditions must be met in full. So there are no more important or less important priorities here. Everything must be fulfilled. Of course, the ruling party has a special responsibility to make sure that everything is done transparently and honestly. This applies to deoligarchization as well. This is nothing new here. This issue was also included in the association agreement.

Blaming others for something you yourself could not do and your ambitions you couldn't achieve is not European behavior. This once again emphasizes the rightness of the European Commission's decision to wait a little longer for granting candidate status to Georgia. Obtaining candidate status is a very important step on the way to EU membership. A country can become a member of the European Union only if it acts, behaves and lives in accordance with European interests, values and principles.
If you accuse the European ambassador or someone else of something you should have done and you didn't, that's really not European behavior.

I want to tell you that the European Union is watching all of this very closely and is not very happy. We support the now former Ambassador Hartzel, who did a great job in helping Georgia move towards Europe. So we support both the former ambassador and the new ambassador because they are in Georgia on behalf of the EU. They're pushing EU policy because that's the best way to help Georgia provide a better life for its people. So, once again, it's very sad when we hear criticism of the EU ambassador because Georgia itself has failed to deliver what was expected of it," Stano says.
