"We brought them up to speed on how the work related to the 12 recommendations is progressing," Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili said after the meeting with the diplomats.
He says parliamentary work is important for the implementation of the 12 recommendations of the European Commission.
As for today's meeting, together with the Chairman of the Committee on European Integration and First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs we met with representatives of the embassies of EU member states and representatives of the EU Embassy and we informed them how the work related to 12 recommendations is going.
We presented a timetable, which I think is quite clear and rigorous, of when the relevant initiatives should be introduced in Parliament, when they will be adopted on third reading, and we presented a timetable of the meetings that have been held in this way in committee or working group formats, or in other loose formats, and we talked about what is planned.
One thing that we agree on is that it is important that the parliament and the parliamentary formats are the leading ones here, of course the committee working groups, the formats in the rules of procedure of the Parliament of Georgia are the ones that ensure participation in this process, that the process itself is inclusive, and so it is important that everybody who is interested in the European future of Georgia, interested in being part of implementing the 12 recommendations and interested in being part of depolarization among them, should all be in these working groups and committee meetings which There is only agreement and unanimity on this, which, of course, is what democracy means," Papuashvili says.
