We ask foreign partners to cut off political oxygen to radicals in Georgia - Khelashvili

Georgian Dream MP Giorgi Khelashvili says the government is asking Western partners to dissociate and refuse to cooperate with "radical elements" in Georgia. He spoke on the subject on Palitranews.

The first deputy chairman of the parliament's foreign relations committee says that if a civil war breaks out in the country, which he believes "radical forces" have been trying for three years, we will automatically be dragged into a war.

"When we say that there is polarization in Georgia, it really is. What fuels polarization? Polarization is often fueled by politicians and media who are trying their best to stir up unrest in Georgia, turn up the heat, are irreconcilable, and so on, on both sides, whether it is Alt Info or National Movement, at the same time we see that some of our Western diplomats have not separated themselves from this, cooperation with these people continues and this is what will feeds their confidence, be it Khoshtaria, Gigauri, who unfortunately already appears as a politician and not as a representative of the civil sector. There are some such persons too, Girchi Japaridze, the same representatives of Lelo The same Girchi Jadaridze, the representatives of "Lelo", who left the Parliament [...].

What we ask from them, and what causes outrage, what causes the most annoyance is that they very often feel that they are still communicating with the West. Our request to our Western partners is to distance themselves from them in Georgia, to block to some extent these attempts of these people to aggravate the situation in Georgia," Khelashvili said.

According to him, "as long as the cooperation of the West with these radical elements continues, the polarization in Georgia won't stop". Khelashvili says these "radical elements" are fueled by relations with Western partners.

Khelashvili says that the "dream" knows where the threat of war is coming from, and that is Russia, although he claims that the only force that can draw Georgia into war is the "fifth column" in Georgia.

"The only force that can draw Georgia into war is the fifth column that is in Georgia, and that is the radical opposition, which has been trying to start a civil war here for three years now. If a war starts here, we will automatically be involved, if a civil war starts, we will automatically be involved in the war[...] Therefore, we ask our citizens, political forces and our foreign partners to do everything to cut off the political oxygen to the radicals in Georgia," he said.
