Illegal medicine in Mikheil Saakashvili's case - Viva Med denies the accusations

Published:

The lawyer of the third president of the country claims that the treatment was carried out with such drugs, that the American experts had questions.

The lawyer has already addressed his questions to the Viva Med clinic. American experts say the drug has been withdrawn from use in the U.S. because it causes complications in terms of neurological status as a side effect. They wonder if other drugs were tried before prescribing this particular drug.

"This case is handled by American specialists, they ask for a medical history, which we send almost every day, so they ask questions from there, how this was, what this is, why he takes it, they establish the history as they are usually interested in any medication," says Shalva Khachapuridze.

The medical director of Viva Med has already responded to the information circulated by Khachapuridze and said that the use of the drug is approved.

"Why should I respond to some absurd statements of a lawyer, what do you mean banned medicine? and how do they understand it? The banned drug is not used anywhere in Georgia, and it is certainly not used in our clinic. Ciprofloxacin is used everywhere, in Georgia, America, Africa, etc. These questions are so absurd and so unprofessional that they are not even worth commenting," said Zurab Chkhaidze.

For information, Mikheil Saakashvili has been undergoing treatment for over three months at Viva Med clinic, but his condition is not improving.
