On the occasion of Ukraine's Independence Day, a rally-march will be held in Tbilisi today.
As noted the leader of the party "Droa" Elene Khoshtaria, the event, initiated by the Ukrainians living in Georgia, will begin at 19:00 on the square of the First Republic.
"Today is Ukraine's Independence Day. Six months have passed since Russia, a terrorist state, carried out aggression against the Ukrainian state. Ukraine Independence Day is the day of the entire free, civilized world, because Ukraine has become a symbol of the fight against evil, for freedom and peace. It is the day of the entire free world and especially Georgia, because today Ukraine is fighting for our freedom and peace as well.
We must honor all the fallen, civilians and soldiers, those 18 Georgian soldiers who defended our country on the land of Ukraine and sacrificed themselves in the fight against evil. That's why it's important to commemorate this day in Georgia as well. Not only does the state not do this, but it has taken shameful steps against the planned rally in Batumi by limiting the stage of the rally and creating logistical problems. I'm sure this attempt of the government will not work and today in Batumi at 20:00 people will gather at the Alphabet Tower, honor Ukraine and celebrate Ukraine's Independence Day.
Also in Tbilisi, at 19:00, at the initiative of local Ukrainians and with the support of all activists, public organizations and political parties, a rally is taking place at the Republic Square. I hope we will gather today, be together and meet with dignity on this day," Elene Khoshtaria said.
