The Georgian presidential administration is reacting to the appointment of Davit Bakradze as Georgia's ambassador to the UN. The presidential administration says that Salome Zurabishvili does not consider Bakradze's appointment as envoy to the UN appropriate, although it does not explain why she signed the appointment.
"The negative assessment of Mr. Davit Bakradze's activities in the U.S. by the President of Georgia remains valid. Consequently, the appointment of his permanent representative at the UN, while there is a war in our neighboring and friendly country, is not justified. This position has been repeatedly expressed by the President of Georgia in public and during informal consultations.
As for Mr. Davit Bakradze's appointment, he was appointed Permanent Representative to the United Nations by a presidential decree on August 30, and it should also be noted that all 39 official nominations submitted to the President on behalf of the Georgian government and since her inauguration, all 39 have been approved and all have been appointed to their respective positions," said Natia Sulava, Chief of Staff to the President of Georgia.
