The chairman of the Georgian Dream says that the council formed under the public defender was unable to diagnose Mikheil Saakashvili for the reason that "in fact, there is no diagnosis." According to Kobakhidze, the expertise to be carried out by the state is going to answer everything.
When asked why the Ministry of Justice decided to conduct the expertise of the third president now that foreign experts have been involved, Kobakhidze says there has been no need to do it so far:
You remember that there was a group with the participation of the ombudsman, they couldn't even make a diagnosis. Yes, because there is really no diagnosis, no indication that any special intervention is needed and that is why even representatives of the Ombudsman team could not diagnose it. That's why there was no special need in this case," Kobakhidze said.
When asked if Mikheil Saakashvili's sentence can be postponed for 1 year as requested by his attorneys, Kobakhidze said "If there is necessity, of course we can argue about everything but everything indicates that it is not necessary, the expertise will say once again what it must say," Kobakhidze said and added that this is an issue better discussed by specialists and not politicians.
