According to Irakli Kobakhidze, chairman of the Georgian Dream, non-governmental organizations have a moral obligation to demonstrate a high degree of transparency to the public. He also accused the NGOs of spreading disinformation and cited Factcheck as an example.
Kobakhidze says that such NGOs are associated with the "radical opposition" and have political interests.
"There are some of the richest NGOs that are funded from various sources, and of course when they make political demands and demonstrate political ambitions, moreover, they have a moral obligation to demonstrate a high degree of transparency to the public. But we see that there is absolutely no transparency of their expenditures and the society has no information about it which creates risks, our country is a small country, a small state, it is naturally vulnerable to all kinds of risks, in such times transparency is especially important," Kobakhidze said.
