According to a new survey of the National Democratic Institute, 62% of respondents heard about the decision made by the European Council on June 23, according to which we will receive the status of a candidate country for the European Union after fulfilling certain conditions.
According to NDI's research, most of those who have heard about the decision of the European Council believe that the Georgian government did not do enough to get the EU candidate status.
According to the same survey, for the majority, the implementation of the recommendations of the European Council is important, although only a third of citizens expect the government to fulfill these conditions.
33% of respondents say that the government will not fulfill the conditions, 32% think that it will, 35% do not know.
According to the NDI survey, for the majority of the population, the involvement of the opposition and the civil sector in this process is important, although they do not expect it.
The field work of the new research was conducted in the period from July 12 to August 15, 2022. 2,104 completed interviews were conducted using the telephone interview method. Average margin of error is +/- 2%.
