Civil sector calls on the Government to establish an anti-corruption agency

Published:

Four NGOs are calling on the government to set up an independent anti-corruption agency. The need for this is especially evident after a committee of the United States Congress has published a bill.

According to the document, 15% of the aid allocated to Georgia will be frozen until the State Department finds that the Georgian government is strengthening democratic institutions, fighting corruption in government and upholding the rule of law in accordance with international standards.

According to civil society, international partners are already urging the Dream to fight high-level corruption, but the Government does not recognize the problem, which could have dire consequences for the country.

The complex system of fighting corruption that we have in Georgia will be concentrated in one place and we think that such a mechanism will be effective" - said Giorgi Kldiashvili, IDFI Director.
