Georgia has a worthy place among European courts - Talakvadze

According to one of the leaders of the Georgian Dream, Archil Talakvadze, Georgia has a worthy place among the European courts.

With this statement Talakvadze reacted to an interview aired by the Mtavari Channel, in which a former judge of the Supreme Court said he was a victim of pressure and was often forced to make decisions on specific cases as a result of coercion.

Talakvadze accused the media of spreading false information and making unfounded accusations against the court.

"Georgia ranks well among European courts. Therefore it is unfair to dramatize the situation and create artificial tension in this sphere, as if we do not have a court and as if the court cannot fulfill its function.

You want to create outrage with these questions, and you don't want to fulfill the real function of the media to fully inform the citizens. It's your choice, we will at least explain to citizens what changes have occurred in the judicial system," he said.

For the record, this statement was made by a former judge of the Supreme Court on September 16 in an exclusively recorded interview to the "Mtavari Channel." He said that he was actually demanded to make specific decisions through criminal disputes and threats of physical violence, while justifying their demands with state interests.
