"The judiciary today is as free and independent as it has ever been in its history," says Supreme Court Vice-Chairman Giorgi Mikutadze.

This was not a judge's statement, let's start here. It's a very poorly choreographed scenario, and it's quite obvious that a new wave of attacks on the court has recently begun on the part of specific parties. I absolutely rule out any pressure being exerted on any of the judges. There are all sorts of levers and tools to protect the judges.

These arguments are totally unacceptable. Regarding the same appointments to the current corps, a very large percentage of which, over 80% if I remember correctly, are appointed for life, and what about the fact that these people can be speculated on the subject of appointments. The judicial system today is so free and independent as never before in the history of its existence," says Mikutadze.
