According to the chairman of the Georgian Dream, Irakli Kobakhidze, U.S. Ambassador Kelly Degnan's statement towards renegades was insulting. He spoke on the topic on public broadcasters "Free Vision" program and said that the MPs who wrote the anti-Western rhetoric letters "have a special past."
"Here I have to respond to one of the ambassador's statements, which unfortunately was offensive. These are four MPs elected by the people, and the formalities alone don't matter, do they? They have a special background. For example Sozar Subari, what he did, many cannot do. He boasts that he was the people's protector and stood against the most brutal regime in the most critical times, when it cost people even their lives; there is Misha Kavelashvili, who was always loyal to principles and was a fighter; there is Dito Khundadze, Guram Macharashvili, they are such people, beyond their formal status. And the Ambassador told them that they are spreading Russian-type lies and disinformation. If we thought that these people were really spreading Russian-type lies and disinformation, of course, we would have had a huge difference in content, but that is not really the point," Irakli Kobakhidze said.
